Do I need a special bra to use Elvie Pump?
Elvie Pump is designed to be worn with your standard nursing bra. It needs to be firmly pressed against your breast—there should be no gaps between the pump and your skin.
If you’re using a structured or inflexible bra, the Bra Adjuster may be used to create more room and ensure a secure seal.
How many modes and intensity settings does the Elvie Pump have?
Elvie Pump offers two modes—Stimulation and Expression—and seven intensity settings so you can find the most comfortable and efficient level for you.
What Breast Shield sizes are available and how will I know if they’ll fit?
Elvie Pump comes with 24 mm and 28 mm breast shields in the box. If needed, 21 mm shields are also available to purchase.
For smaller nipples, we recommend using an Elvie Nipple Cushion inside a 24 mm shield. Sizing is based on the width of your nipple’s base—please use our Breast Shield sizing guide to find your recommended size.
The suction on my Elvie Pump doesn’t feel right. What can I do?
If something doesn’t feel right, try these steps:
- Familiarize yourself with intensity settings:
- There are 7 levels in both Stimulation and Expression modes.
- Press “+” to increase intensity: suction gets stronger and pumping cycles slow down.
- Press “–” to decrease intensity: suction softens and pumping cycles speed up.
- When you reach the highest or lowest level, the Play/Pause button lights flash 3 times.
Check your app preferences:
In the Pump with Elvie app, set your preferred start intensity for both modes. These preferences apply at the start of every session—whether you control via the app or on-pump buttons—and persist across sessions. Ensure your app settings are up to date.
