Real Motherhood is Messy

We often compare ourselves to other moms on social media who have the “perfect” life and seem to have mastered the art of motherhood. Their outfits coordinated, hair nicely done, house perfectly clean, no toys scattered around the living room or spills in the kitchen – they seem to have it together.

But the thing is, that’s not real life. It’s just an image that we like to project to the outside world. It’s the life we wish to want to believe we have, the life we wish for. But here’s the thing, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Real motherhood is messy. It’s chaotic. Exhausting. But oh so beautiful! Even on the days when you feel broken. When you haven’t slept in so long. When you feel so lost.

It’s okay to feel lost and tired, mama. We are all trying our best. It’s okay to not be a picture-perfect, “together” mom. It’s okay to be an unstrung, trying her best mom. We all are at some point.

Motherhood is a crazy, wonderful ride. It is incredibly beautiful. When your baby smiles at you for the first time. When she clings to your finger in her sleep. And when she takes her first steps and falls into your arm. All the sleepless nights and the tiredness seems so little.

It is moments like these that stick out in your memories. You’ll remember the cuddles, the smiles, and the laughter. You’ll remember a baby that depended on you. A baby that taught you the meaning of unconditional love. And that is real motherhood.
